Pathways to Full-Time Employment

Following graduation, although not guaranteed, graduates are eligible to continue their employment with their sponsoring manufacturer moving into a full-time position with benefits. Many manufacturers seek professionals with this level of experience and training, plus graduates may pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as engineering, technology, or business.

Kanawha Scales & Systems training

Earn Advanced Manufacturing Degree

Graduates of Kanawha Valley FAME will finalize the program with a two-year accumulation of paid work experience, alongside earning an associate’s degree in Advanced Manufacturing.

Earn a Minimum of $16/hr

The Kanawha Valley FAME chapter enforces a consistent guideline: student employees will receive a base wage of at least $16/hour.

Moreover, there exists an opportunity for periodic pay increases, specifically designed to promote both academic accomplishments and exceptional work performance.

Earn Valuable Work Experience

The weekly commitment entails students being engaged in work responsibilities for three days and devoting two days to attending BridgeValley. This balanced structure ensures a minimum workload of 24 hours in the professional realm, complemented by a minimum of 16 contact hours spent participating in educational pursuits with the College Partner.

High School Recruiting Visits

Occur September-January.

The First Public FAME Open House

Will be held in October 2023. Please stay tuned for the specific date.

The First Round of Interviews

Will be conducted for qualified applicants in November. Please stay tuned for the specific date. Early applicants who wish to be notified of selection earlier in the 2024 school year must apply before November 1.

The First Round of Selections

Will be announced in December. Students who are not selected may be asked to reinterview in February. The final selectees will be notified in April. You will also be notified in late April if you are not selected.

The Second Public Open House

Will be held in January. Please stay tuned for the specific date.

Applications Received After November 1

If a student hears of FAME USA later than November 1 or applies after November 1, their interviews will be conducted in February. They must apply before February 1st to be considered for Febuary interviews.

The Second Round of Interviews

Will be conducted in February. The remainder of the Kanawha Valley FAME cohort will be selected for this interview. The number of candidates selected will be determined by how many students are selected during early interviews in November.

Students must be 18 years of age by the first day of work sponsorship (1 week before the start of class).

Drug-Free

Students must be illegal-drug-free and committed to remaining illegal-drug-free.

Meet Course Prerequisites

Students must meet prerequisites for English 101E and College Algebra (MATH 125) by the work/study sponsorship application close (March 1st).
