FAME Is For You If:

You are smart, career-oriented, and ready for a well-paying career right now. With West Virginia Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (WV FAME), you can dive into a challenging advanced manufacturing career while receiving the education needed to build your resume and make you highly marketable to manufacturers across the state.

Once you’re accepted into WV FAME, you will begin work on a combination education/training program to earn an associate’s degree as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT). During the week, you will attend classes at a local community college and work for a local employer – all while being paid a competitive wage for your work.

After five semesters you will have earned an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technician Track, 60 college credit hours, and two years of work experience. At that point, you’ll be ready to enter the workforce full time with all the skills needed to succeed – and with the potential of no school debt!

An Engaging Career Starts with Hands-On Training

You will attend classes on certain days of the week while working the other days of the week at a local sponsor’s manufacturing facility for a competitive wage while gaining hands-on experience.

As a participant in the AMT program, you will participate in hands-on training and education to develop you as a fully-rounded worker, including:

  • Electricity, Robotics, Fluid Power, Mechanics, PLCs, Industrial Troubleshooting
  • Manufacturing Core Exercises
  • Safety Culture, Visual Workplace Organization, Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and Machine Reliability
  • Professional Behaviors
